Forest Red Gum is a large eucalyptus native to eastern Australia, with a widespread endemic range spanning coastal and inland regions from Queensland through to Victoria. It prefers well-drained alluvial soils or sandy loams and establishes excellent frost tolerance once mature, though young trees benefit from frost protection. Avoid heavy, stagnant clay or waterlogged soils, as saturated roots increase frost vulnerability. 

A preferred food source for koalas, Forest Red Gum provides essential nutrition and habitat for native wildlife, making it an excellent choice for gardens supporting Australian fauna conservation.
